The long term survival of koalas in South East Queensland relies on preserving the best quality koala habitat.

The Draft South East Queensland Koala Conservation Strategy 2019-2024 introduces a coordinated and strategic approach to the delivery of habitat protection, restoration and threat mitigation actions. It’s a new approach that allows us to maximise the outcomes of investment, by taking action in areas where there is the highest likelihood of success for koala conservation.

The draft Strategy proposes 32 actions, and outlines the work already underway in implementing the recommendations of the Koala Expert Panel.

Everyone is encouraged to have their say, to make sure we have those actions right for the long-term survival of koala populations in the wild in South East Queensland.

    The draft Strategy lists six priority areas for action over the next 5 years.
